How We'll Die
we built our coffins from freezing rain,
from pounding migraines
and sweaty limbs.
because he taught us
that it’s only when we’re fighting
that we know ourselves,
only when we’ve suffered
that we’ve lived.
but living,
living is the hardest task.
we’re born into a drowning world,
and everyone is holding their breath.
you and I just want one thing:
some way to come up for air.
and that is why we run:
to show the world
that it can’t drown us,
even though we know that
no matter how fast we run,
our destination will stay the same.
because no matter how fast we run,
we run into our open graves.
